Radithor – Radium Infused Water

Bottle of Radithor

Radithor was sold from 1918 to 1928 during a time in which radioactive quackery was popular. There were many people in the early 20th century who believed the use of radioactive substances would improve one’s health and beauty.

The creator behind Radithor was William J. A. Bailey, and he advertised it as a “Cure for the Living Dead” and “Perpetual Sunshine”. It was expensive, misleading, and deadly.

One of the victims from this dangerous radioactive water was a famous golfer, Eben Byers. His death drew attention to the dangers of radithor and similar products. This led to laws and regulations being put on radioactive products.

The Radium Water Worked Fine Until His Jaw Came Off.
